Tours
Our school program offers an exciting,
fun, and educational experience for children from junior kindergarten to
grade 3. Students are given a short educational presentation, taken on a wagon
ride tour of the farm and then to the patch to pick their own pumpkin.
The tour correlates with the new Ontario
Science and Technology Curriculum with the following expectations presented,
based on the grade/age level:
a)
Opportunity to explore, observe the
surrounding and classify characteristics of plants using the 5 senses
b)
Investigate the characteristics and needs
of plants
c)
Demonstrate awareness that plants depends
on their environment to meet their basic needs
d)
Compare the basic needs of humans to other
living things (pumpkins)
e)
Describe using their observations the
effects of the season on plants (seed-little plant-bigger plant with lots of
leaves-flowers formed-fruit produces-harvest and dieing of leaves and plant.
f)
Farm safety issues

Refreshments:
Juice, coffee and a cookie are provided
after the tour
Handouts:
Each child will have a pumpkin patch
colouring page and/or a word search to finish back at school after the farm
tour.
Timeframe and Cost of Tour:
The farm tour program can be provided in
the morning or afternoon and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours.
The cost is $4 per child and adults are free. Our tours run from September 15- October 20.
Please dress accordingly as it can be cool and damp in
the fields at that time of year.
